Northampton Town v Oldham Athletic
Match Preview with Stu Vose

On first inspection, tomorrow's game at Northampton may look like the quintessential end-of-season clash.

It may be two teams in the middle of the pack with no play-off place still to play for, but Latics chief John Sheridan is as keen as ever to win.

Sheridan is aiming for as high a finish as possible and won't want the Cobblers -- just one place and two points behind Athletic -- overtaking his side.

The Boundary Park supremo was impressed by the performances of Neal Eardley, Matty Wolfenden and Deane Smalley last weekend as Latics triumphed 2-0 over Leyton Orient.

And he could be tempted to experiment once again with just three games remaining in 2007/08.

But he will certainly find tough opposition in the shape of Stuart Gray's Cobblers, who have enjoyed a solid season.

They beat Athletic 1-0 at Boundary Park earlier in the season and have enjoyed a number of useful results during the current campaign.

A stunning 4-2 victory over Swansea raised hopes of a late push for the play-offs, but those hopes were quashed as Town followed up with two straight losses.

The goals of Poul Hubertz have been a major positive this season -- the target man has scored 12 goals in the League this season.

Adebayo Akinfenwa has also weighed in with a haul of six goals after joining the club on a short-term contract.

Gray's men will be looking to fashion their own solid finish to the season and achieve a top-ten spot.

They have won three, drawn four and lost three of their last ten games but are unbeaten in their last three outings.

The Cobblers earned a battling point at high-flying Southend following a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham on March 29 and a 2-1 home win over Luton on April 5.

Home form is good overall, with ten wins, six draws and five losses from 21 home games, with 34 goals scored and just 20 conceded.

The injury situation may have brightened up a little for Sheridan, but he is still without a number of key players.

A total of six players will definitely miss out, namely JP Kalala (knee & ankle), John Thompson (knee), Craig Davies (hamstring), Lee Hughes, Gary McDonald and Michael Pearson (all groin).

But there's better news surrounding Lewis Alessandra, Paul Black and Jason Jarrett, who have returned to the squad following injuries.

Sean Gregan has also been passed fit after limping out of last week's win over Leyton Orient.

Northampton are likely to be without Liam Dolman (hamstring), but Brett Johnson and Danny Jackman should both be fit.

Latics (from): Crossley, Eardley, Stam, Allott, Jarrett, Lomax, Hazell, Gregan, Wolfenden, Taylor, Liddell, Smalley, Alessandra, Kelly, O'Donnell, Chalmers, Black.
