MATCH PREVIEW: CREWE ALEXANDRA (A)
Latics travel to Crewe tomorrow looking to rack up a hat-trick of victories over the Railwaymen this season.
They came from behind to win 3-2 at Boundary Park back in September before a sole Lee Hughes goal earned Latics an FA Cup Third Round tie at Everton.
But tomorrow's result could be the biggest one of all with the Alex looking over their shoulders at the drop zone.
They could still go down tomorrow depending on other results but should guarantee their League One status for next season with a point.
Meanwhile Latics chief John Sheridan has pledged to keep his side focused on three points to round off the 2007/08 season in style.
His side have only pride to play for -- the highest they can possibly finish is eighth.
Crewe go into a last-day fight for survival lying just two places outside the bottom four but in fairly decent form, having won four out of their last eight games.
That sequence included an impressive 3-0 win at Yeovil, where Nicky Maynard bagged a crucial double and Tom Pope also scored to secure three valuable points.
But Crewe missed the chance to secure their status in the division once and for all at Bournemouth last week - Sam Vokes scoring the only goal to keep alive the Cherries' own hopes of avoiding the drop.
Relegation would be a massive blow for first team coach Steve Holland in his first season in full charge. But Dario Gradi is still on the scene and will be hoping to use his years of know-how to keep Crewe up.
Alexandra's home form is middling - they have conceded three more goals than they have scored at home, winning eight, drawing six and losing eight in the process.
They last lost at home on April 5, when play-off bound Southend travelled north and returned down the M1 with maximum points following a 3-1 win.
In his pre-match press conference, Boundary Park chief Sheridan touched on the irony of having almost a fully-fit squad to choose from for the last game of the season.
Sheridan has been beset by a series of injuries for much of the season, but only Michael Pearson, Lee Hughes (both groin) and John Thompson (knee) will miss out tomorrow.
Craig Davies is back in the squad and may well be on the bench, while Chris Taylor has shrugged off the knock he picked up last week and is included.
Ex-Latic Julien Baudet faces a late fitness test but is expected to figure for Crewe, while Billy Jones returns.
Holland will also decide whether to hand a final start to experienced club captain Neil Cox, who is retiring at the end of the season.
