Neal Eardley and Craig Davies both figured as Wales' U21 side lost 2-0 to their England counterparts at the Racecourse Ground last night.

With senior managers John Toshack and Fabio Capello looking on, Eardley completed 62 minutes at right back before being replaced by Bristol City's Christian Ribeiro.

Meanwhile Davies was introduced from the bench for the last 13 minutes after he came on for Manchester City's Chedwyn Evans.

Tom Huddlestone gave England the lead from the penalty spot after 19 minutes, and Arsenal starlet Theo Walcott added a second just six minutes later.

Both Eardley and Davies have won call-ups to Toshack's senior squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Iceland and the Netherlands.

A fixture against Georgia has also been arranged before the World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway in the autumn.

Right back Eardley was Athletic's most-used player in 2007/08 with 50 appearances, while Davies' 14 goals earned him the title of the club's top scorer.
