Under first Joe Royle and then Graeme Sharp, Athletic were tasked with adjusting to life in Division One after dropping out of the top flight at the end of the previous season.

We're kicking things off with all the action from the 5-2 win over Charlton Athletic at Boundary Park on the opening day of the campaign, and we'll also be bringing you some other classic clashes from throughout the season.
