The Broadway Stand's days are well and truly numbered after contractors began work on its roof late yesterday.

Demolition teams have now removed all but one of the concrete sections supporting what used to be the upper tier, and have stripped back large sections of the roof.

Now heavy equipment will be used to finally pull down the stand, while the existing terracing at the front of the main structure will also be dug out and removed.

Work is expected to last well into next week, as once the demolition has been completed the site must be cleaned, made safe and secured.
