DAVIES: "I'VE LET EVERYBODY DOWN"
Craig Davies has apologised to Latics' supporters following his red card at Rochdale last week.
Last season's top scorer was slapped with a three-match ban after seeing red for aiming a headbutt at Dale's Nathan Stanton.
Latics were forced to play the second half and extra time with ten men, eventually prevailing on a penalty shoot-out.
Now Davies - who must sit on the sidelines for a further two weeks - has issued a full apology.
"As soon as I got the dressing room after being sent off I realised I had let the team down," he said.
"Then I was just hoping we'd get through the tie, and fortunately we did that.
"Sometimes you get caught up in the heat of the moment, and I know it was a silly thing to do.
"I apologised to the boys in the dressing room at half time and I went to see the manager on Thursday and apologised to him.
"I've let the fans and the club down too and I would like to say sorry to everyone."
Davies had only ever been sent off once previously, and admits it's a difficult road back to the starting line-up after his indiscretion.
"I've been fined for what I did and have been pulled out of the Wales squad as well.
"Now I've got to sit out another two games which is frustrating, and I know it will be difficult for me to get back into the game because the lads are playing well.
"Things haven't been going well for me on the pitch, but I'm confident that if I keep my head down and work hard it will start to click."
