Former Latic Kenneth Branagan has passed away following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.  He was 78.

Born in Salford in 1930, Branagan joined Athletic from Manchester City in October 1960 as part of a £10,000 double signing with Bert Lister.

He gave five and a half years of sterling service, appearing in every game of the 1962/63 promotion campaign and featuring 195 times for the club in all.

Ken later served the club as a coach and his son, James, also represented Athletic.

The club would like to pass on their sincere condolences to Ken's family at this time.
