PREVIEW: TERRIERS COME TO TOWN
Athletic will lock horns with Roses rivals Huddersfield Town once again when the two sides clash at Boundary Park tomorrow.
John Sheridan's men are tasked with maintaining their place at the top of League One, while Stan Ternent's Huddersfield will be aiming to build on last week's home win over Northampton Town.
Athletic have won all three of their home games so far, and drew last time out after an incredible 3-3 draw at Hartlepool.
Meanwhile, Ternent has some light relief after a slow start to the new season. His side have won two out of the last three games to climb from second-bottom of the league to a mid-table 15th.
The 2-1 win at Cheltenham on September 6 was the Terriers' first League victory of 2007/08. They lost at home to Tranmere the following week, but bounced back last Saturday by seeing off the Cobblers courtesy of goals from Andy Booth and a brace from Michael Flynn.
Aside from the win at Cheltenham, Ternent's men have posted a League record of one draw (0-0 v Colchester) and one defeat (1-2 v Millwall) on the road, and have scored three goals and conceded three on the road overall.
Ternent boosted his side recently by extending the loan deal of Derby striker Liam Dickinson, who has scored twice in five appearances for Town so far.
Michael Flynn and summer signing Gary Roberts lead the scoring charts with three goals each, followed by Dickinson and Town Stalwart Andy Booth on two apiece.
The two sides were closely matched last season, with one win each and one draw from three meetings in the League and FA Cup.
One-time Latics target Ronnie Wallwork cancelled out Craig Davies' opener in a 1-1 draw at the Galpharm Stadium last October, while Luke Beckett's goal gave the Terriers a 1-0 win in an FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Boundary Park back in January.
But Athletic gained revenge for the Cup reverse with a thumping 4-1 win in the return League game at Boundary Park, courtesy of goals from Jason Jarrett (2), Leon Constantine and Chris Taylor.
Latics will be without skipper Sean Gregan, who starts a three-match ban after being sent off at Hartlepool last week. Stefan Stam and Richie Byrne will battle to replace him at the back.
Otherwise, manager Sheridan has no new injury worries and will choose from Lee Hughes, Craig Davies, Lewis Alessandra and Chris O'Grady for the two spots up front.
Huddersfield will wait on the fitness of striker Danny Cadamateri, who has a hamstring injury and may not be risked. Chris Lucketti (groin) and Andy Booth (back) also face late fitness tests.
Commentary on the game is LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on Latics World with Mike Leyland and Roy Butterworth from 2.55pm.
