Two of the three Latics players on loan at other clubs played in the FA Cup over the weekend.

After extending his loan deal at Notts County, John Thompson started again for the Magpies and helped them to a 1-0 win over minnows Sutton United, with the winning goal coming from ex-Latic Richard Butcher.

Meanwhile Craig Davies played and scored in Stockport County's 1-1 draw with League One counterparts Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the club never gave permission for Chris O'Grady to appear in the Cup for Bury, and he was therefore ruled out of the Shakers' 1-0 defeat to Gillingham.

The club's only other loanee - defender Paul Black - continues to receive treatment on an ankle injury and was therefore not in action for Barrow as they drew with Eastbourne.
