Matthew Tipton plundered the winner as non-league Droylsden stunned League Two leaders Darlington last night.

Tipton converted Neil Prince's cross just before the half-hour to send the Blue Square North outfit through to the Second Round in some style.

The game was marred by a serious injury to Darlington's Liam Hatch, resulting in a half hour hold-up while the player received treatment.

Droylsden will face Chesterfield in the Second Round at Saltergate on November 29.

A former Latics trainee, Tipton made 126 senior appearances for the club and scored 17 goals before moving on to Macclesfield in February 2002.
