Latics defender Neal Eardley won another international cap for Wales in the Red Dragons' win over Denmark last night.

Craig Bellamy's second-half goal sunk the Danes and handed John Toshack's side an impressive 1-0 win in Brondby.

West Ham star and Wales captain Bellamy broke the deadlock with a low drive with 13 minutes left to silence the home crowd.

Eardley came off the bench with three minutes to go and helped his side to a friendly win, replacing Spurs youngster Gareth Bale.

Athletic have revealed that they made an application to keep the player at Boundary Park in order for him to participate in Tuesday's FA Cup Replay.

However, the request was rejected by the Wales camp as manager Toshack wanted to take a closer look at the player with only one further friendly scheduled in the next five months.
