LATICS' WHITAKER BACK IN TRAINING
Influential midfielder Danny Whitaker has given John Sheridan a boost by making a successful return to training.
The ex-Port Vale man has missed the last three games after injuring his ankle when he jumped for a ball in training and landed awkwardly on Reuben Hazell's heel.
But a course of intensive treatment with physio Marc Czuczman has had the desired effect and Whitaker was back on the training ground this morning.
The 28-year-old's return means the manager must decide whether to break up the partnership between Mark Allott and Kevin Maher, with which Athletic have won their last two League games.
Sheridan commented: "I brought Danny down to Southend so he could receive more treatment from the physio.
"He was fit on Saturday but we decided it was too soon for him. But he's OK now and will be in the squad for Tuesday's game."
Head physio Czuczman added : "I have been very pleased with Danny's progress. He has worked very hard and is now reaping the rewards."
