The Latics squad will have a chance to recharge their batteries this weekend as the League One programme gives way to FA Cup action.

Athletic's elimination at the hands of Cheltenham means the club has a gap in the schedule prior to next weekend's home clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The squad have trained today and will then report back for a regular session as normal on Monday morning - giving the players a weekend to rest up.

The schedule has been tight of late, with two games in a week being a regular occurence, plus a number of long-distance away games.

And manager John Sheridan will be hoping a small break will do his side good with the busy Christmas and New Year period coming up.

Preparations will begin as normal at the beginning of next week as Latics - winners of each of their last three League games - look to grab another three home points next Saturday.
