BYFIELD RETURNS TO DONCASTER
Darren Byfield has returned to Doncaster Rovers after his loan deal with Athletic expired.
The 32-year-old was eligible to play against Hartlepool today and had been named in the squad, only for the game to fail a morning pitch inspection.
Therefore Byfield has now returned to the Keepmoat Stadium after spending two months on loan at Boundary Park.
The ex-Bristol City man made eight appearances in all, bagging one goal in the 3-0 win at Crewe on Boxing Day.
New signing Dean Windass is likely to shake things up in attack alongside Lee Hughes.
Craig Davies, Lewis Alessandra, Matty Wolfenden and Deane Smalley are also pushing for places.
The club's other senior striker, Chris O'Grady, is currently on loan at League Two side Bradford City.
