Manager John Sheridan will leave it late before deciding on his starting line-up ahead of the visit of Colchester.
The Latics chief has named an unchanged squad for tomorrow's game but must wait on the fitness of key players.
Sheridan has been keeping his cards close to his chest but it is understood that he will wait until the end of training today before making any decisions.
With a big squad at his disposal, Shez has players queuing up to come into the reckoning, but he will no doubt be mindful of the four points taken by the current line-up in their last two games.
Striker Dean Windass is available after quashing rumours he was set to leave the club, and he will compete with 17-goal top scorer Lee Hughes plus Steven Kabba and Lewis Alessandra for a starting place.
Midfielder Danny Whitaker will also launch a bid for inclusion after he was left out of the matchday squad for the Leeds game, with Kevin Maher and Mark Allott preferred in midfield.
Defender Reuben Hazell is in the squad for his last game before beginning a two-match ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards.
And Sheridan will still be without Mark Crossley (back) and Matty Wolfenden (thigh), while midfielder Dale Stephens has picked up a thigh problem in training and is currently receiving treatment.
The Boundary Park chief wants his side to show the consistency of a top side and build on a useful return of four points from two difficult games against Millwall and Leeds.
Meanwhile, Colchester boss Paul Lambert has sidestepped suggestions he is already focusing on next season - insisting his side can still mount a push for the play-offs.
He told cu-fc.com: "Am I looking to next season? No, it is more about making the best of what we have available for each match.
"We still have hopes of doing something this season and while it remains possible, we will be going for the top six."
Lambert's side sit just eight points shy of a play-off place - not an insurmountable deficit given the famously unpredictable nature of League One.
His side are a rare breed amongst Football League clubs; they have gathered more points on their travels than on home turf at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Away trips have yielded 25 points (W7 D4 L5) compared to a total haul of 22 at home (W6 D4 L8) - good enough for 12th spot in the division with 47 points on the board.
Strugglers under former chief Geraint Williams, the U's have rebounded strongly under Lambert's stewardship and went unbeaten from December 13 until February 10 (9 games).
That sequence ended with defeat at Tranmere, a loss followed by two more defeats in as many games. But a 1-0 home win over Stockport reversed the decline, and United followed that up with two draws.
A home clash with Hartlepool ended one apiece on Saturday, while a brace from influential midfielder Dean Hammond secured a useful 2-2 draw at play-off challengers Huddersfield in midweek.
