Joe Royle looks set to make changes for Tuesday's game at Cheltenham - and that could mean a debut for on-loan winger Fabio Ferreira.

The Chelsea man, 19, hasn't figured in the senior squad thus far but signed a one-month loan extension earlier today after making good progress in training.

Ferreira impressed in a reserve outing at Crewe recently and could be about to be handed an opportunity to test himself in the first team.

Royle admitted he's been impressed with the winger's "bright" performances on the training ground, and added:

"He can go past people and has a decent turn of pace.  He's been at Chelsea and has a decent CV - I think he's got something.

"I had a chat with Fabio and told him 'please give us a month if you've got nothing to go back to at Chelsea.  I'd like to see more of you'.

"He's in the squad for the Cheltenham game."

Meanwhile Royle also revealed he's "watching closely" as Thursday's loan deadline approaches.

"I've already made preliminary enquiries with the chairman and Alan Hardy," said Royle, who allowed Scott Golbourne to return to Reading today.

"There might be a provision for one more player to come in if I can find the right one. 

"I have someone in mind, but let's get tomorrow's game out of the way first."
