GREGAN RETURNS TO THE FOLD
![]()
Latics chief Dave Penney has boosted his defence by bringing former skipper Sean Gregan back to the club on a one-year deal.
The Boundary Park supremo was impressed with the 35-year-old's attitude and fitness levels after he was invited to the club for talks recently.
And circumstances have now allowed Penney to offer the vastly-experienced centre back a new deal after he was initially released last month for financial reasons.
The former West Brom man has established himself as a popular figure at Boundary Park since joining from Leeds United in November 2006 following an initial loan spell.
He has made 82 senior appearances for the club so far - many of them as captain - scoring one goal, on his debut against Kettering in the FA Cup.
Gregan is Penney's fourth capture of the summer following Rob Purdie, Jon Worthington and Joe Jacobson.
