Athletic have signed former Luton Town goalkeeper Dean Brill on a two-year deal, oldhamathletic.co.uk can exclusively reveal.

Brill, 23, is a free agent after leaving the cash-strapped Hatters and will step into a straight fight for the number one spot with Greg Fleming.

Luton-born Brill put pen to paper this afternoon after successfully passing a medical at Boundary Park.  He joins Fleming and first-year pro Josh Ollerenshaw.

The 6'2" stopper came through the Centre of Excellence at Kenilworth Road and ironcally made his League debut at Boundary Park as Athletic ran out 3-0 winners.

He spent time on loan at Gillingham in the 2006/07 season and was in goal for the Johnstones' Paint Trophy victory over Scunthorpe in 2008/09.

Despite the silverware, Mick Harford's side found a crippling 30-point penalty too much to overcome and were relegated to the Blue Square Premier.

Brill - Athletic's seventh signing of the summer - leaves Luton having made a total of 105 senior appearances.  Log on to oldhamathletic.co.uk later for exclusive reaction.
