Latics are hoping to this week extend Jason Price's loan stay at Boundary Park.

Dave Penney has revealed he has had positive talks with Millwall manager Kenny Jackett.

Price's initial month ends after Saturday's home game against leaders Norwich and the Latics manager said: "I have asked Kenny about extending the loan and he is happy to do so as long as Jason is happy, which he is.

"We will try and extend it as long as we can because Jason has come in and done well."

Penney has been pleased with the way Price and Pawel Abbott have linked up front in the four matches they have played together.

Price, himself, has added he enjoys playing alongside Abbott and the two of them are establishing a good understanding.

The Latics manager has not ruled out further transfer activity, though he says he has only one-loan slot left.

He added a potential problem is that clubs often insist on the loan man playing which would make it difficult if he brought in a striker as he couldn't drop Abbott or Price on current form."
