Daniel Nardiello's loan spell with Latics looks likely to be over barely before it has begun.

A scan had revealed the striker sustained a sizeable tear to his hamstring on his home debut against Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

Nardiello won't play again during his initial month at Boundary Park and it is thought he will be out for about six weeks.

It had been hoped Nardiello, who was taken from the field on a stretcher, had strained rather than torn his hamstring as .that would have been a far less serious injury.

Latics have signed Nardiello on loan for the remainder of the season, though Championship club Blackpool have a recall clause after 28 days.
