Latics are confident Joe Colbeck will be fit for tomorrow's Coca-Cola League One derby at Stockport County.

The winger missed Saturday's 2-2 draw against Wycombe Wanderers at Boundary Park through an ankle injury.

Colbeck received a kick to his ankle in midweek when he came on as a substitute against Leyton Orient.

Though Colbeck's ankle responded well to treatment,  it was decided to give him a couple of extra days to recover..

Deane Smalley also had a fitness check after he had been troubled with a stiff back after the midweek win, though he was declared fit and he retained his starting spot.

"Each had been 50/50 and we felt it was not right to risk playing both players," explained manager Dave Penney.

Dean Furman was passed fit after missing the midweek match through a whack on the knee sustained at Exeter.

Jon Worthington, who did not feature in Saturday's 18, will play for the reserves tonight against Accrington Stanley at Hyde (7pm) as he continues his recovery from damaged ankle ligaments.

Striker Lewis Alessandra, who has also recovered from ankle ligament damage, is now on the sidelines through a hip strain.
