New-signings Jean Yves M'voto and Oumare Tounkare have set out their goals for the loan spell they have just kicked off at Boundary Park.

The 21-year-olds, signed on loan from Sunderland for the 2010/11 campaign, say it is important for the development of their careers to be playing regular first-team football.

M'voto, who made 41 first-team appearances for Paris St Germain before joining Sunderland, spent six months on loan at Southend United last season.

He said: "Both Oumare and myself need to be playing 90 minutes every week which will help our fitness and match sharpness.

"I have had a lot of bad injuries in the last two years so I need a new start and to be playing regularly.

"I had a loan spell at Southend last season so know what to expect.

"It is different for Oumare as this is his first time out of loan, but having me here with him helps as we are also both good friends."

Latics have cause to remember M'voto as his one goal for the Shrimpers last season was here at Boundary Park.

"I had mixed emotions that day. It was great to score, but Southend lost and were relegated which was sad," he explained.

M'voto is looking forward to being part of a successful Latics side.

"From what I have seen so far, I think we will have a good team and let's hope we have a good season," he declared.

Oumare, signed for Sunderland from French club CS Sedan, is also excited at the prospect of playing for Latics.

He said: "It isn't easy moving, but having Jean with me helps.

"It is good that the manager (Paul Dickov) believes in me and I think it should be a good year for me."

Both M'voto and Tounkare say it is their goal to one day play for Sunderland in the Premier League.
