Latics fan Keith Shaw has made a tribute on behalf of the Boundary Park club to Exeter City striker Adam Stansfield who last week lost his brave battle against bowel cancer.

The matchball from last season's match between the two teams at Boundary Park, which Exeter-based Keith sponsored, has been placed on the terraces at St James' Park along with a floral tribute and Latics scarf alongside hundreds of further tributes to the 31-year-old.

The idea is for the signed matchball to be raffled to raise funds for Adam's family as he leaves a wife and three young children.

Adam was a legend for the Grecians helping them win back-to-back promotions which took them from the Blue Square Premier to League One in successive seasons.

He had previously helped Yeovil and Hereford win promotion to the Football League.

Exeter's match against MK Dons on Saturday was postponed in tribute to Adam and there are calls for his No 9 shirt to be retired as a lasting legacy to his memory.
