Latics manager Paul Dickov admits he is in a dilemma over fit-again Warren Feeney as he prepares for Saturday's top-of-the-table clash at Charlton Athletic.

The striker has recovered from the groin strain which ruled him out of last Saturday's 3-0 home win against Notts County.

Whether Feeney reclaims a starting spot at The Valley is the poser Dickov confesses he is wrestling with.

Dickov said: "Warren is our most experienced striker who was brought in to play and to score goals.

"At the same time Oumare (Tounkara) and Djeny (Bembo) have just played in a team which has won 3-0.

"That is a decision I have to make, but it is a good one to have as Warren, who has 35 international caps, doesn't know he is going to be in the team.

"It is good to have competition for places and it keeps everyone on their toes."

Dickov again reiterated that players returning from injury are by no means guaranteed an immediate first-team place.

He explained: "I will be true to my word in that if the boys are in the team and doing well they will stay in the team no matter how old they are, how experienced or how young or less experienced they are.

"I will keep them in the team providing they do what I ask them to do."

Dickov used Chris Taylor as another example of a player who cannot force his way back into the starting line-up.

He continued: "Chris is back, training fantastically well, fit, eager, keen and desperate to get back into the team.

"To Chris' credit, he is working ever so hard and knows when he gets his chance he has to take it like the rest of the players currently out of the side."
