It looked a bet as safe as houses when Chris Taylor pledged to have his head shaved if team-mate Dean Furman scored against Notts County on Saturday.

The reason for Taylor's confidence was that the South African midfield man had failed to find the net in 43 appearances since he was signed in the summer of 2009.

What perfect timing, therefore, for Furman to break his goalscoring duck.

His celebration involved running to the bench and mimicking a razor-shaving action in the direction of substitute Taylor.

Taylor today paid the price for losing the bet as his golden locks were shorn by his team mates in the changing room, something Latics Player subscribers will shortly be able to see exclusively.

Latics will benefit from the headshave as we have some of Taylor's hair which we are auctioning to raise funds for Trust Oldham's Playershare scheme which was launched to raise transfer funds for manager Paul Dickov.
