Dean Furman scored on the stroke of half time to draw Latics level in their top-of-the-table clash at Charlton Athletic.

The midfield man's goal cancelled the effort from Scott Wagstaff which had given the Addicks the lead midway through the opening period.

The battle of the top two saw second-placed Charlton create the first chance when Pawel Abbott and Scott Wagstaff set up Kyle Reid who volleyed narrowly wide.

Latics' first opening in the 12th minute saw Paul Black's cross headed down at the far post by Ritchie Jones for Oumare Tounkara to strike the upright.

Jason Jarrett was booked soon after leaving him to tread a careful line for the remainder of the match.

Charlton made the breakthrough in the 24th minute when Abbott's shot from Lee Martin's left-wing cross was blocked and fell invitingly to Wagstaff who shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards.

Latics displayed character as they hit back creating a couple of half chances.

They were eventually rewarded for their efforts in the final minute of the half with an equalising goal.

Jones crossed from the right and the ball was only cleared as far as Furman who walloped a spectacular shot into the top cornere from outside the penalty area, a strike equally as memorable as the stunning strike one week earlier against Notts County.
