Latics were unlucky not to leave Charlton Athletic with three points following their 1-1 draw at The Valley.

On-loan striker Oumare Tounkara could on another day have finished with a hat trick.

Tounkara was twice denied by the frame of the goal as well as by a stunning save from keeperr Rob Elliott.

Latics, who kicked off for the second half with the score 1-1, had a lucky escape soon after the restart when Kyle Reid had a goal ruled out following a shove on Kieran Lee.

Paul Dickov's side came within inches of taking the lead in the 51st minute when Tounkara's effort was deflected on to the upright by Elliott.

The rebound fell to Dale Stephens whose goalbound shot was cleared off the line by Johnnie Jackson.

Latics made a double substitution midway through the half as Chris Taylor and Djeny Bembo were replaced by Deane Smalley and Chris Taylor.

One of Feeney's first contributions was to release Tounkara who burst clean through on goal only to to denied by a super save from Elliott.

There was an anxious finish for Latics after Jason Jarrett was harshly sent off for a second booking which left them to survive the final four minutes of normal time and five of stoppages with 10 men.

Dickov took off front-man Tounkara and replaced him by Jean Yves M'voto, but Latics held firm.
