Latics physio Marc Czuczman won a race against time to get Ritchie Jones fit for Saturday's top-of-the-table clash at Charlton Athletic.

Key-man Jones was a major doubt after hurting his ankle in a training-ground tackle with Chris Taylor on Thursday.

When the team left for Chartlton on Friday lunchtime, Jones limped on to the team bus saying his swollen ankle was throbbing.

Yet little over 24 hours later and, thanks to the efforts of Czuczman, the midfield man was playing a blinder at The Valley to help Latics maintain their unbeaten start to their league campaign.
