Disabled fans will be concerned about the fire at Boundary Park that severely damaged not only the Corner Flag Suite but also the adjacent sheltered area used by disabled fans.

At the Notts County home game that area was full of wheelchair users and their carers, an indication of how well appreciated it is.

Ron Cassidy, Latics' Disabled Officer, said: "The fire is all the more annoying because an extension to the shelter was recently added at the expense of one of those wheelchair fans.

"How long the area will remain out of use will obviously be in the hands of structural engineers and insurance companies.

"It is hoped that it can be sorted out as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we hope the disabled fans will make use of alternative areas in the Chaddy End and the Rochdale Road Stand.

"We hope this situation will be temporary."
