LEWIS IS TOP GUY FOR DONS

Posted on: Thu 26 Aug 2010
Latics may have made an early exit from the Carling Cup, but their former players are making an impact in this year's competition, none more so than Lewis Guy.

The striker, whose end-of-season goals helped Latics stave off the threat of relegation, could not have picked a more opportune moment to open his scoring account for MK Dons.

Guy, who completed a summer move from Doncaster, scored an extra-time winner as the npower League One Dons defeated Premier League new boys Blackpool 4-3 after extra time.

Brett Ormerod, another former Latics loanee, was among the scorers for the Seasiders.

Andy Holt was also on target as League Two Northampton Town knocked out Championship club Reading in another major upset.

The game at the Madejski Stadium finished 3-3 after extra time with the Cobblers triumphing 4-2 after extra time.

Richie Wellens also found the net for Leicester won won 2-1 at Leeds in an all Championship club clash.

Three League One sides defeated Championship opponents as Notts County were victors at Watford, Brentford overcame Hull City while Peterborough defeated Cardiff City.
