JOE OUT TO PROVE POINT

Posted on: Mon 30 Aug 2010
Joe Jacobson is in no hurry to leave Latics, even though he was recently placed on the transfer list by Paul Dickov.

The left-back, signed from Bristol Rovers, has been plagued by injury problems since his move to Boundary Park in the summer of 2009.

Jacobson, who has had a groin/pelvic injury, had a couple of minor operations in the summer to try and clear trouble once and for all.

He said: "I also had a little setback in pre-season and am only just getting my fitness back which is what I am concentrating on.

"The manager has not seen a lot of me and I am determined to show him what I can do and try and get involved in the first team here."

Jacobson, who was injured last pre-season, admitted he probably ought not to have played last season because he was doing so in a lot of pain.
