Latics fans will be reassured to learn there will be no late finish in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy first-round tie against Shrewsbury at Boundary Park.

In the event of the match ending in stalemate after 90 minutes, the match will immediately go to a penalty shootout.

To prevent clubs belittling the competition, Latics must kick off with six of the starting line up which played Yeovil or six of the starters tonight must begin Saturday's game against Bristol Rovers.

Alternatively Latics must play six of the 11 players who have made the most appearances for the club so far this season.

Another rule change is that there are only five substitute in JPT matches as opposed to seven in the npower League and other cup competitions.
