Congo international Rodrigue Dikaba was handed his full debut by Latics in this afternoon's home npower League match against Bristol Rovers.
Dikaba, capped nine times by Congo, replaced Ritchie Jones who had failed to overcome a hamstring strain sustained last Saturday.
Deane Smalley took over from Jones on the right side of midfield against Shrewsbury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in midweek, but Dikaba caught the eye after replacing Smalley in the second half.
Jason Jarrett, who missed the JPT tie because of a virus, returned to the centre of defence in place of Reuben Hazell who strained a thigh muscle in midweek.
Warren Feeney, who is away on international duty, was replaced by Dean Kelly as the recent signing was handed his first league start.
Latics (4-4-2): Brill; Lee, Jarrett, M'voto, Black; Dibaka, Stephens, Furman, Taylor; Tounkara, Kelly. Subs: Gerrard, Gregan, Holdsworth, Jacobson, Bembo, Smalley, Dickov.
