Defensively the Latics were caught on the back foot a couple of times, but any threat of danger was eventually turned away by the back three. Chris Day did make a couple of confident stops but was never really tested in the half.

The Latics claim their first victory of the new season the Latics were well deserved winners in their first outing of the season. Boss Ronnie Moore included eight of his 12 summer signings, but they were always too good for newly promoted Yeovil.

The visitors never recovered after being hit by a two goal blast midway through the first half.

It is obviously early days but Oldham gave an early warning that they could be a force to be reckoned with this season
