"We are looking for a top six place, and if we can keep performing like this we will be o.k."

Match Report

Boss Ronnie Moore hailed a professional performance and urged his Oldham side

To kick on and start to climb the table.

He said:

"We got at them and deserved the win.

"The big thing was to keep a clean sheet."

Paul Warne was the hero with a superb double - a goal in each half- gave Latics only their second victory in nine games.

Skipper Andy Liddell was the provider for both strikes which helped lift Oldham up the table after the dismal run that had seen them drop to 17th place.

Moore gave Will Haining his first outing since March following his recovery from Long-standing hamstring damage.

Big centre-back Guy Branston was also recalled after missing the last four games with a calf injury.

Both went on to play key roles in a win that was to make it nine points from the last 27, a run, in which they had shipped 18 goals.

The home side started brightly and Oldham found themselves on the back foot but looked more comfortable when Moore changed his formation to a more dangerous looking 3-4-3 with Warne and Liddell as the wide players and Chris Porter down the middle.

Oldham went in front after 39 minutes.

Haining put Liddell on a run down the right and he cleverly beat defender Efe Sodje and drilled a perfect cross into the box where Warne was waiting.

He made no mistake with a neat side foot into the bottom left hand corner to leave the keeper rooted on his line.

Oldham again looked the more dangerous side after the break.

The busy Warne was out of luck in 62nd minute when the Yeovil keeper had to make a fine save from a deflected shot.

3 minutes later Oldham were again out of luck when a shot from Liddell eight yards out was blocked.

Yeovil had their best chance of the game in 67th minute.

Neil Skiverton was just 10 yards out and unmarked but he hurried his shot and screwed the ball well wide.

Warne was again lively in the box in the 75th minute and this time he was denied when his effort clipped a post.

But he made no mistake after 82 minutes.

Mark Hughes sent Liddell away and in an almost carbon copy move of the first goal he picked out Warne who quickly slammed the ball into the net.

There was no way back for Yeovil even though Latics had to play out the last three minutes with 10 men after Paul Edwards was sent off for a second bookable offence which Moore described as harsh.

He added:

"Our keeper didn't have much to do and we have to make this result pay.

"We are looking for a top six place, and if we can keep performing like this we will be o.k."
