Two goals from Luke Beckett gave Oldham their first win in four games.
The striker who had come off the bench hit home two headers inside of three minutes to stretch an unbeaten home run to eight League and Cup games.

Beckett makes an immediate threat with a shot that was just inches wide of the mark
Paul Edwards and Liddell set up Beckett's first in the 84th minute and veteran David Eyres provided the cross for Beckett's second which took his tally to six for the season.

Celebration 1
It was the first time in 400 minutes that Latics had hit the target.

Celebration 1
Victory took a long time coming in lack - lustre contest but there was no doubt that Ronnie Moore's side deserved to make it four points from the last 12 .
Gillingham were a poor side and it was hardly surprising that they left BoundaryPark still searching for their first away win of the season
A poor opening 45 minutes had ended in deadlock.
There was little for the fans to cheer although Oldham did create the better of the chances, few though they were.

New boy Anthony Grant confident under pressure
And Chris Killen, playing with his head bandaged to protect a nasty gash in his forehead came up with an amazing miss when the game was only five minutes old.
The New Zealand international striker ran on to a cross from Andy Liddell.
But he some how managed to blast the ball high over the bar from just six yards out.
Latics were unlucky eleven minutes later when a left footed shot from Paul Warne clipped the outside of a post.
After that both sides cancelled each other out and scoring opportunities became less and less leaving both players and fans frustrated.
