DICKOV UNHAPPY WITH IRISH FA

Posted on: Wed 18 Aug 2010
Latics manager Paul Dickov is unhappy with the Northern Ireland Football Association after Warren Feeney returned from international duty injured.

The 29-year-old striker missed yesterday's 3-0 home win against Notts County with a groin problem he aggravated playing against Montenegro in midweek.

Dickov explained that Feeney complained of a tight groin muscles after the opening-day win at Tranmere.

He said: "The Tranmere game was Warren's first 90 minutes for a long time and he complained afterwards his groins were stiff.

"When Warren reported for international duty on Monday, he told the Irish officials he was struggling but, for whatever reason, he played 45 minutes up front on his own in what was only a friendly.

"You have to look after players which is common sense, especially at this time of the season.

"If that were one of my players, I would prefer him to miss one match and be ready for the next one,"
