Lewis Alessandra committed his long-term future to Athletic in April 2008 by signing a contract until the end of the 2010/11 season.
Like fellow youngster Deane Smalley, Alessandra is a graduate of the Boundary Park youth system.
He was a regular scorer alongside Smalley at youth level and graduated from Tony Philliskirk's side when he signed a one-year deal at the end of the 2006/07 campaign.
A busy forward with bags of pace and trickery, Alessandra was a regular in the reserve side in 2006/07.
Alessandra made his senior debut against Huddersfield Town on October 20, 2007, and made his first full start at Swansea on February 2, 2008.
Like Smalley, injuries thrust the silky frontman to the forefront in the latter stages of the 2007/08 campaign.
He finished the season with a tally of sixteen appearances, including goals against Tranmere and Cheltenham.
The Heywood-born frontman made an impression during the first half of 2008/09, scoring on the opening day of the season against Millwall as well as slamming home a hat-trick against Scunthorpe in October.
