OLDHAM ATHLETIC RESERVES 2 (Kilcourse 56, Wolfenden 70)

Nottingham Forest wrapped up the Pontin's League Central Division title with victory over Latics' second string at the City Ground.

Gareth McCleary kicked things off with a ferocious drive into the top corner ten minutes in, and James Reid's close-range effort just before the half-hour gave the hosts a two-goal lead at the break.

Forest had also struck the woodwork just before the half-hour when McClearly hit the post with a close-range drive.

But Lee Duxbury -- who replaced goalkeeper Josh Bell with Josh Ollerenshaw just after the restart -- saw his side clamber back into the game when Nathan Kilcourse guided a 56th-minute effort through a crowd of players and into the back of the net.

But it wasn't to be for the visitors, who were denied a penalty for an apparent push on Matty Wolfenden and then fell behind when Alan Power slotted home from the penalty spot after Danny Knight was adjudged to have pulled down Forest striker Emile Sinclair in the box.

Latics didn't give up though, and Matty Wolfenden grabbed his side's second goal was a looping header that beat Forest keeper Shane Redmond.

Sinclair's powerful effort restored the two-goal lead just a minute later, and Forest wrapped up the silverware with last-minute strikes from Hamza Bencherif and Mark Byrne.

Athletic competed well in the second half and had the better of the play but just couldn't break down their more experienced opponents.

Senior skipper Sean Gregan completed a 72-minute run-out as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

But Josh Bell and Ashley Kelly didn't fare as well, with the pair both departing the action with injuries.

Latics Res: Bell, (Ollerenshaw, 47), Winters, Francis, Kilcourse, Knight, Gregan (Rose, 72), Rowney, Fitzgerald, Brooke, Wolfenden, Kelly (Thaker, 58).
