OLDHAM ATHLETIC RESERVES 1 (Kelly)

Ashley Kelly grabbed another goal for the reserves as they gave Championship side West Brom a scare at the Hawthorns.

The hosts looked into control when they assumed a two-goal lead, but Kelly set up a grandstand finish with his third goal of the season.

The midfielder tracked a left-wing cross perfectly to fire home a well-struck volley with ten minutes left, but Athletic couldn't force an equaliser and the Baggies extended their lead with a late, late strike.

With Lee Duxbury fielding a number of trialists it was an unusual side which took to the field, with only three professionals -- Kelly, Sean Gregan and Paul Black -- featuring.

Gregan passed another important test of his fitness by coming through the full 90 minutes as he edges ever closer to a return to senior duty.

Duxbury's side now have a day's respite before their next Pontin's League game, at home to Nottingham Forest at Boundary Park on Wednesday (KO 7pm).
