Leicester City Res 8-1 Oldham Athletic Res

A strong Leicester side proved too much for a young Athletic outfit at Hinckley United yesterday.

Lee Duxbury was forced to go with youth for the game, with the squad made up entirely of apprentices and trialists.

Not one professional was on duty, while the Foxes fielded a strong side with £1million striker Steve Howard only able to make the bench.

Ashley Chambers (2) and Ricky Sappleton had put the hosts three goals up by the 36th minute, but Ross Thaker replied from the penalty spot following a handball.

Chambers and Sappleton both went on to complete their hat-tricks, with Ryan Beswick and Billy McKay also netting in the second half.

The reserves will play their final game of the season on Monday when they travel to Bradford City.
