Tonight saw the start of a busy week for Latics as their reserve side took on Accrington Stanley at Clitheroe's ground.

It was the first of two games this week for the second string as on Wednesday they take on Blackpool with the first team in action tomorrow at MK Dons.

It was a young in experienced side that made the relatively short journey into Lancashire but it was the young blues that took the lead 34 minutes into the first half when Matty Carr headed home from a corner.

Football was not easy to play on a poor surface and credit must go to the players for trying.

Djeny Bembo Leta had the ball in the net but had his effort disallowed.

On the goals front it proved to be a disappointing night for Latics as they failed to add to their tally and the game ended in a narrow victory for the young Latics.

There were notable performances from Bembo Leta, Andy Crompton and Josh Rose.
