Tony Philliskirk has warned his youngsters a complacent attitude could result in an FA Youth Cup shock at Fleetwood Town tomorrow night.

The youth team head to the Fylde Coast looking to secure a second-round date with League Two side Rotherham United at Boundary Park.

But standing in their way is a Fleetwood youth side whose senior counterparts are making big waves in the non-league scene.

Philliskirk looked on as Town booked their place in the First Round with a win over Formby - and was impressed by what he saw.

"I went over when they played Formby last week, and Fleetwood played some good football," he explained.  "They've got two good wingers and plenty of pace in their side.

"We will go there under no illusions.  I'd use the example of the first team - if they drew a decent non-league side away from home in the FA Cup people would say it's a tough game.

"We should have too much for them if we play to our best, but we must get our approach to the game right and be professional.

"Cup competitions are a great leveller and anything can happen on the night, so we must prepare correctly."

He added: "Myself and Mick [Priest, centre of excellence manager] have been trying to get across to the young players that they cannot just turn up, walk out and win.

"Fleetwood will have a number of lads who just missed out on apprenticeships at League clubs, so they'll see this game as an opportunity to test themselves against our players and prove that they should have been given that chance.

"First and foremost, the lads have to be mentally and physically ready for the challenge.  If we can get that right then we can allow the football to take over."
