Oldham Athletic AFC has a vacancy for a Webmaster to take control of their market-leading official website, oldhamathletic.co.uk.
The club are keen to pioneer new and innovative uses of digital media and are seeking a fresh-thinking, dedicated team player to join the club's commercial department.
The Webmaster will have specific responsibility for ensuring the club's fans have a first-class online experience whilst delivering strong financial results across all media streams.
Technically knowledgeable and with strong writing skills, the successful candidate will have a keen eye for a story and be capable of coming up with new, appealing content ideas.
The webmaster will have sole responsibility for keeping all areas of the website fresh and current, including club news, player interviews, features, match reports and more.
They will also oversee the club's successful Latics World online TV service, including filming interviews with players and staff and editing footage in Adobe Premiere.
Driving revenue via the club's mobile website, SMS text messaging service and affinity partnerships (for example online betting) is also a key part of the role.
The Webmaster will be expected to liaise with the local and national press on occasion in a press officer role as well as acting as the main contact for the club's IT suppliers.
Attendance at all home and away senior games is considered essential, as well as some out-of-hours work during the week as and when the role requires.
A University degree is preferable, but consideration will be given to promising candidates who show potential despite not having such a qualification.
Previous experience of working in football is not required, though a passion for sport in general and football in particular is a clear benefit.
The ideal candidate will have considerable experience of producing compelling written content and will be able to show they have solid journalistic credentials.
Experience of working with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop will be advantageous, as will ability to use a video camera and previous experience of using Content Management Systems.
A working knowledge of basic HTML is also desirable but not essential.
Although working in football is hugely rewarding, it is also very challenging and candidates should expect to work a six-day week during the football season.
