Latics reserve side played their first match under the guidance of John Sheridan and Lee Duxbury when they faced Barnsley on Tuesday night.

The players who have recently taken on the responsibilty of coaching the youth and reserve teams following the redundancies of Dave Cross and Billy Urmson were among the scorers in the 3-3 draw.

Latics fielded a relatively strong line-up for the match with Dean Holden, Michael Clegg, Carlo Corazzin, Chris Killen and Scott Vernon also included.
