All families accessing the summer provision, based at E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy, will be able to apply for free internet data. The offer, which provides 20GB data for 12 months at a value of £240 and aims to support families with Digital Poverty.

Did you know that:

  • 42% of young people do have either home broadband or a laptop/desktop computer.
  • 21% of the UK population lack essential digital skills
  • 30% of young people aged 8-25 are at risk of becoming “digital castaways”

The Foresight Foundation is a not for profit, social enterprise tackling the digital poverty crisis to create a digitally inclusive society.

Martin Vose, OACT Head of Community, commented: “We are extremely excited to start our work alongside Craig and the Foresight Foundation to help benefit those within our local community. Providing acces to the internet is the first step in Foresights mission to closing the digital divide.

Whilst this particular element of the partnership focuses on our summer soccer school we are committed to working alongside each other for the long term, to help combat the above mentioned statistics that face those within Oldham in relation to digital poverty.

Craig Barratt, Director of The Foresight Foundation - "To support the eradication of Digital Poverty across the borough we need partners who are strong leaders in their communities.  OACT fit this profile perfectly & we are excited to work with them to maximise our reach"

There is a small eligibility criteria to be able to claim a free data sim. To find out more about this please email enquiries@oact.org.uk.
