Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Oldham Ability Counts form a new partnership to support disability football in Oldham.

This afternoons Sky Bet League Two fixture between Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United is the dedicated Level Playing Field week of action of event. To celebrate, and highlight this, Oldham Athletic Community Trust can proudly announce a brand new PL Kicks partnership with Oldham Ability Counts to further enhance opportunities for children with PAN disabilities aged 8-16.

The new partnership, along with the support from existing partners New Bridge School & Hollingwood Academy, will help to provide additional opportunities for young people across the borough and ensure that football as a sport is as inclusive as possible.

Peter Boase, OACT Community Engagement Lead, commented: “We are delighted to partner with Mark and everyone at Oldham Ability Counts along with Newbridge & Hollinwood Academy.

This new partnership is extremely exciting for us as a Community Trust and highlights particularly one of our core organisational values (inclusive). In the coming weeks and months we look forward to working as a multi-partnership to further increase the opportunities available to the young people who attend the project.”

Oldham Ability Counts PL Kicks Football Sessions are hosted at Hathershaw College on a Monday evening between 4-6pm. To find out more, email peter.boase@oact.org.uk

Level Playing Field are celebrating their 18th Weeks of Action campaign, which aims to showcase the good work being done by clubs and organisations to improve accessibility and inclusion for disabled fans.

To support the campaign, Oldham Athletic are getting involved by helping our disabled supporters learn about Level Playing Field and understand what they do, what their aims are to improve accessibility and inclusion, and how they can assist disabled fans. One example of how Oldham Athletic are working to ensure that matchdays are as inclusive as possible is through the re-introduction of matchday sensory packs. Further details can be found HERE

Level Playing Field supports disabled sports fans through its membership, and a variety of active initiatives.
