World Mental Health Day 2021

On October 10th 2021, we celebrate World Mental Health Day. The pandemic and the resulting economic uncertainty has negatively affected many people’s mental health and elevated concerns for those already living with a mental illness. We support World Mental Health Day to raise awareness to those suffering with their mental health and share a reminder that its okay not to be okay!

You can find organisations that offer Mental Health Support Services on our Mental Health and Wellbeing page HERE

This year, to support the EFLs ‘Do One Thing’ as a random act of kindness campaign, we have supported local Mental Health group, Mental Health Football.

Mental Health Football is a local football group who host a free weekly football session for anyone of any age, any ability, to play football and talk about their mental health. The session uses football as a tool to increase physical activity and mental wellbeing.

Our random act of kindness this year was paying for this weeks Mental Health Football session, providing them with new equipment including footballs and bibs as well as donating two copies of FIFA 22 signed by the Oldham Athletic First Team Squad to raffle off and raise vital funds for the group to continue their sessions.

Harrison McGahey shared the following message to the group ahead of our visit to them for our ‘Do One Thing’ campaign.
