Community Coach

Job Role
Oldham Athletic Community Trust Community Coach.

Vacancy
Between 30-40 hours per week. Additional overtime potentially available on an adhoc basis.

Contracted Salary
Hourly rate between £9 - £9.75 dependant on qualifications of successful candidate. 

Contract Length
July 2022. Extension of role subject to funding.

Main purpose of the role is to:

  • Working on a full-time basis the role will support the delivery of Oldham Athletic Community Trust across various community projects, primarily school based & PL Kicks initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Own transport with full UK driving licence, or ability to travel.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Safeguarding Certificate.
  • NGB Level 2 Coaching Qualification.

Desirable Requirements:                                      

  • Additional school based qualifications, classroom based or physical activity related.
  • Achieved or working towards a Level 3 in Primary School PE/Sport.
  • Degree (or working towards) in Sports Coaching or any other sport related degree.
  • Experience of using behaviour management strategies when delivering sports and physical activity.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience delivering curriculum based Primary School P.E to children aged 4-11 years old. 
  • Experience of delivering in a classroom environment.
  • Enhanced DBS (CRB) certificate.

Casual Coach

OACT are looking to add the role of 'Casual Coach' to the successful delivery team at the organisation.

This role is advertised on a sessional basis for the OACT PL Kicks project. PL Kicks is a youth inclusion project, aimed at providing sporting opportunities to young people aged between 8 - 19. Sessions take place during the evenings at a variety of different sites across Oldham.

  • To lead on the delivery of the PL Kicks session(s), a project delivered during the evening time. This includes the potential opening of facilities, the signing in of participants and ongoing management of the session.
  • To ensure that all session paperwork & documentation is kept upto date according to organisational guidelines.
  • To potentially manage staff.
  • To ensure that all equipment is safe to use, adhering to health & safety procedures.
  • To mentor young people, providing them with positive role models.

Applicants must have a minimum of an FA, or NGB Level One, and some prior experience of engaging with young people within the age range of the project.

Hourly rate between £9 - £10 dependant on qualifications of successful candidate.

NCS Seasonal Roles

OACT are now recruiting for professional, dedicated and inclusive individuals to take on seasonal roles for our Summer National Citizen Service (NCS) Programme.

NCS helps young people to develop key skills for work and life; they will be introduced to new challenges, working in a team where they will meet new people and create lifelong friendships, and make a positive difference in their local community.

NCS staff will guide and inspire a team of up to sixteen young people to overcome adrenaline-fuelled challenges, learn skills for work and life and successfully plan their social action projects, ensuring guided reflection takes place at all stages. You will be responsible for supporting and motivating participants throughout their NCS journey. This role may be suitable for individuals who have experience working with young people, and who want to develop themselves and others in a fun and challenging environment.

We have two NCS Waves running this summer, one two-week and one three-week programme. Should you be successful, you need to be available to work for a full wave, and ideally both waves. The dates are as follows:

Wave 1 (2 weeks):
Week 1: 12th July – 16th July
Week 2: 19th July – 23rd July

Wave 2 (3 weeks):
Week 1: 2nd August – 6th August (residential)
Week 2: 9th August – 13th August
Week 3: 16th August – 20th August
