As a result of promotion back to Sky Bet League Two, the club regained its Category 3 status for the academy. The achievement marks a significant moment in our aspirations to continue our growth.
The move to Category 3 status elevates Latics’ academy provision, unlocking new opportunities to work with younger age groups and be in the position to offer an elite football pathway for local young players.
The new category allows the club to operate teams from Under-9s to youth team, significantly expanding its reach and impact across the borough and beyond.
Alongside our EPPP academy is our Football Centre of Excellence, this will be a part of the ambitious SportsTown project and will provide full-time football combined with full-time education for students aged 16 to 19.
